William Li won second place (adult division) in New Tang Dynasty Television’s 2012 International Classical Chinese Dance Competitions, after taking second place in the junior male division of the same competition in 2009 and 2010. He studied classical Chinese dance at Fei Tian Academy of the Arts in New York.
At a young age, Mingye Liu trained in traditional Chinese martial arts (wushu). He then pursued studies of classical Chinese dance at the New York-based Fei Tian Academy of the Arts. He won third place in New Tang Dynasty Television’s International Classical Chinese Dance Competition in 2009, and Honorable Mention in the same competition in 2012. He has performed in over 800 shows around the world with Shen Yun.
Cindy Liu won first place in New Tang Dynasty Television’s 2010 International Classical Chinese Dance Competition after winning first place in the same competition in 2009. She pursued advanced studies in classical Chinese dance at Fei Tian College in New York.
Caroline Lanlan Sercombe performed in New Tang Dynasty Television’s 2008 Holiday Wonders and Chinese New Year Gala productions. She studied classical Chinese dance at the Fei Tian Academy of the Arts in New York. In 2012, she won third place in New Tang Dynasty Television’s International Classical Chinese Dance Competition.
Gary Liu won Honorable Mention in New Tang Dynasty Television’s 2008 International Classical Chinese Dance Competition. He pursued advanced studies in classical Chinese dance at the Fei Tian Academy of the Arts in New York.
Alison Chen won first place (junior female division) in New Tang Dynasty Television’s International Classical Chinese Dance Competition in 2010, second place in the same competition in 2008, 2009, and 2012, and third place (adult division) in 2014. She performed in New Tang Dynasty Television’s 2005 and 2006 Holiday Wonders and Chinese New Year Gala productions, and studied classical Chinese dance at the New York-based Fei Tian Academy of the Arts.
Yungchia Chen is currently an instructor at Fei Tian Academy of the Arts in New York, and was formerly a lecturer in dance at Central University for Nationalities, in Beijing. Before coming to the United States, he was a council member of the Dance Association of the Republic of China (Taiwan). Trained in Chinese classical and folk dance, along with ballet, he is the winner of first place in New Tang Dynasty Television’s 2007 International Classical Chinese Dance Competition, the International Cultural Exchange Award (top honor), the Silver Medal in choreography at Japan’s Kitakyushu International Dance Competition, and the Silver Medal (performance) and the Gardener Award (pedagogy) in China’s national Peach and Plum Cup Dance Competition.
Gu Yuan began studying at Beijing Academy of Dance at age 11, later majoring in classical Chinese dance and graduating with high honors. He served as a principal dancer with the China National Opera and Dance Drama Theater for 10 years. Gu Yuan is the winner of multiple top national dance competition prizes (China), including the Bronze Medal (dance) and Gold Medal (choreography) at the Peach and Plum Cup Dance Competition, Honorable Mention at China’s National Dance Competition, and first place at the National Dance Drama Competition of China, among others.
Gifted both as a performer and composer, Jing Xian became a professional pipa (Chinese lute) player at the remarkable young age of 15. During her four years at the China Conservatory, she pursued studies in composition, music literature, and ethnomusicology. Many musical pieces written by her have won composition prizes. Later, she was awarded a scholarship to Oxford University to pursue a master’s and doctorate in ethnomusicology. Jing Xian has also studied computer-based composition and music technology at Britain’s Reading University.
